I grew up in southern California and crossed the US to attend Boston College for my undergraduate education. There I studied geophysics and minored in mathematics. At Boston College I was able to explore a variety of subjects and issues in the Jesuit tradition of cura personalis, care of the whole person.
This interest in a broad spectrum of subjects followed me after graduation. I landed in Houston, Texas working for an energy services company, hoping to apply my geophysics degree and learn a bit about a diverse industry. Twelve years later, I am still with that same company and have held a number of roles that span geoscience, technical project management, sales, marketing, and product management.
In 2022 my partner and I made the move to Austin, Texas. Serendipitously, I was accepted into a master's degree program at the University of Texas at Austin in the Human Dimensions of Organizations. Now I spend my days working (mostly remotely) and my nights and weekends delving into what makes humans tick.
Recently, I accepted a part-time role as the Operations Director for a start-up nonprofit organization based in Texas, Flyline Academy. Flyline Academy hopes to create greater opportunities for young people as they matriculate out of the Texas foster care system by teaching them valuable outdoors and lifeskills. Through training from industry experts, mentoring, and job placement assistance, Flyline Academy aims to change lives and open doors for some of society's most vulnerable young people.
We have big plans for Flyline Academy, so watch this place!
